The Remote Software Updates facility allows you to download and install corrective service updates (FixPaks) onto an OS/2 system, using just a TCP/IP network connection and a web browser.
From this page, you can download and install FixPaks from IBM's RSU FixPak repository. Even though IBM no longer publishes RSU links to these FixPaks, the files are still available on their servers.
Note: Only free FixPaks are available here. The most recent FixPaks (Warp 4 FixPaks 16 and up, Device Driver FixPaks 3 and up, and all Convenience Package FixPaks) are only available through Passport Advantage subscription, and are not accessible to RSU.
Furthermore, only base OS and device driver FixPaks are currently available for installation via RSU. While in theory it is possible to install FixPaks for other products in this way, IBM's FTP server does not have the necessary files available.
Before You Start
If you have not done so already, you will need to download and install version 1.99 of the RSU utility (RSUINST.EXE) on the OS/2 system you are updating.
- Download RSUINSTN.EXE, which is a self-extracting archive containing RSUINST.EXE and supplementary files.
- Read these installation instructions.
Note: You must install the latest version of RSUINST.EXE no matter what version of OS/2 you are using. Even the latest Convenience Packages ship with an obsolete version of this program.
Available FixPaks
Use the following links to install the indicated OS/2 FixPaks on your system. You must have RSU installed and configured for this to work.
FixPaks for the major available languages are included below. I have omitted languages which were dropped from support prior to Warp 3 FixPak 38 or Warp 4 FixPak 12.
Important: Recent FixPaks for OS/2 Warp 4, Warp Server for e-business, and Device Drivers, and all FixPaks for the OS/2 Convenience Packages, require an OS/2 software maintenance subscription from IBM Passport Advantage. These FixPaks are no longer available via RSU, and are not shown here.
Remember, FixPaks are cumulative. You only need to install the latest one.
